{"id":4353,"date":"2018-07-12T13:19:26","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T10:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/k-e.gr\/?p=4353"},"modified":"2023-09-20T15:34:41","modified_gmt":"2023-09-20T12:34:41","slug":"blog-en-greece-investments-3bmegadeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/k-e.gr\/index.php\/blog-en-greece-investments-3bmegadeal\/","title":{"rendered":"THREE BILLION ENERGY MEGA DEAL IN GREECE"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pl-4353\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-4353-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-4353-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-4353-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_media_image panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"0\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"238\" height=\"212\" src=\"https:\/\/k-e.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/energy-1.jpg\" class=\"image wp-image-4357  attachment-full size-full no-lazy\" alt=\"\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-4353-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-4353-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-4353-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><h3 class=\"widget-title\">BETWEEN  KOPELOYZOS  GROUP AND CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION FOR RENEWABLES, CONVENTIONAL POWER PLANTS AND OTHER PROJECTS.<\/h3>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The final signing of a strategic agreement that brings investments of EUR 3 billion to Greece took place on July the 5th between <a href=\"http:\/\/www.copelouzos.gr\">Kopelouzos Group<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION <\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s actually an agreement that opens a new \"chapter\" in the Greek energy market, promising huge growth prospects, as besides the vote of confidence towards the country, we are talking about the entry of a giant company that is a world leader in three industries. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION <\/a>is the world\u2019s largest electricity producer, both from conventional plants and renewables, the world\u2019s largest coal producer and the world\u2019s largest coal oil producer.<\/p>\n<p>This mega deal envisages a number of investments in the energy sector, with emphasis on clean energy sources, as well as on conventional power generation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first two of these are already in progress and concern:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the joint submission of manifestation of interest for the 3 + 1 lignite units of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ppc.gr\">PPC<\/a>-<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ppc.gr\">Puplic Power Corporation<\/a> in Megalopolis and Meliti, which marks the start of cooperation between the two groups regarding conventional power plants.<\/li>\n<li>Co-operation in the wind energy business, where <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION <\/a>has already joined the Group's subsidiary Elica Group (with 75% -25% shareholding), with a view to fully capitalizing on the overall portfolio (in operation and under development) of 1500 MW power.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00abIt is just the beginning \u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The message that comes out of last Friday\u2019s brilliant event at the Great Britain Hotel, is that the announcements are just the beginning of a big strategic deal. This is because the cooperation between the two groups in the sectors of green energy and the environmental upgrading of conventional power plants will be extended to the Balkans as well as to other European countries.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Dimitris Koelouzos pointed out that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION <\/a>has a lot of experience and wants to transmit it outside of China and that Greece can be the basis for the expansion of its activities in the Balkans and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>He also pointed out that It has been a great success that the Chinese group is currently based in Greece, underlining that the framework agreement considers for a total investment of three billion euros in the Greek market.<\/p>\n<p>\"Our group believes in clean energy and in Greece\u2019s prospects. Our cooperation with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">China Energy Investment Corporation<\/a> is excellent and is based on the seriousness, reliability and consistency of both sides. We are confident that this cooperation will act as a catalyst for the completion of significant investments and will promote our country's energy industry as well as the development of cooperation between Greek and Chinese companies in many industries\" said the founder and chairman of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.copelouzos.gr\">Kopelouzos Group<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> LING WEN<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION <\/a>\u2018s chairman Dr Ling Wen, said that the current deal is the first landmark project that comes as the result of a two-year co-operation between the two sides.<\/p>\n<p>\"Our company is active in the sectors of energy production\u00a0 from coal and clean energy sources, energy saving, environmental protection and cogeneration,\" he said, describing the various fields of the international market where <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION <\/a>Is present, while making special reference to the \"One Belt-One Road\" initiative supported by Greece.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Chen Suhong, first secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Athens, said cooperation would help both sides become more competitive while stressing that Chinese companies have invested in Greece mainly in the industries of marine shipping and energy while referring to the good example of the investment of <a href=\"http:\/\/WWW.coscoshipping.com\">COSCO<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.olp.gr\">port of Piraeus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Development, Mr. Pitsiorlas\u00a0 pledged\u00a0 that \"from the government\u2019s point of view, we not only encourage but we are committed also to help and support other Chinese companies to come and invest in our country\".<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Present at the signing ceremony were, among others, the Secretary of State Mr. Alekos Flambouraris, Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Teres Kouik, New Democracy MP and Development Commander Mr. Costas Skrekas and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ppc.gr\">PPC<\/a> President Mr. Manolis Panagiotakis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How was the collaboration built?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\"Two years ago we had our first meeting in Athens with Dr. Ling Wen. This visit was a milestone for Shenhua, now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION<\/a>, in the sector of power production in Greece, in cooperation with our group companies, \"said Mr. Dimitris Koelouzosos, speaking of the\" building \"of the strategic co-operation with the Chinese giant company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe follow-up was given last September in the Thessaloniki International Fair, where China was the honored country, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION<\/a>, with its dynamic presence, turned the spotlight of its interest in Greece and the wider region\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\"Our country has a very great potential,\" said Mr. D. Capelouzos, who also referred to the high mutual respect between the peoples of the two countries that have among the most ancient civilizations and act as a basis for the development of business and economic partnerships.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.csec.com\">CHINA ENERGY INVESTMENT CORPORATION<\/a> which was founded last year, is the merger of China Guodian Corp with Shenhua Group and is a company with a share capital of 17,028 billion euros, fixed \u00a0assets value of 235,6 billion euros, 66 subsidiaries and 350 thousand employees.
